Not A Dirty film Movie Review

CAST:Shaheb Bhattacherjee, Mumtaz Sorcar, Madhabi Mukherjee, Suchandra Vaaniya, Shataf Figar
    DIRECTION:Ranadeep Sarker
    GENRE:Drama
    DURATION:1 hour 50 minutes

Story: When Tollywood is boasting of urbane, youth-centric films, this one certainly takes us a million steps back. The steamy scenes between lead actors evoke more laughter than passion.

Review: The film revolves around the porn film industry and how Nil (Shaheb), a spoilt brat and a Casanova, gets trapped in it. When Nil and Mona's intimate moments are recorded and leaked as an MMS, he finds himself alone and entirely at a loss, till his family decides to stand by him. The film deals with a crucial subject — the porn film racket in West Bengal — but sadly, the director hasn't done justice to it. The story lacks depth, though the film's steamy posters have drawn a few lovebirds and groups of young boys. The story tries to deal with a lot — the internet that has opened up a world of unrestricted pornography, massage parlours and escort services and how, the layman, more often than not gets trapped in this web. But poor execution and super-bad acting make a total mess of the effort. It might not be a dirty film but it certainly is a shi**y film!
When Tollywood is boasting of urbane, youth-centric films, this one certainly takes us a million steps back. Why Shaheb, known to be a sensible actor, would agree to be part of this film haunts this reviewer! He looks good and does whatever he can, but it's a futile effort. The same goes for Mumtaz. The steamy scenes between them evoke more laughter than passion. Madhabi, wearing pink lipstick and roaming around in a wheelchair, had nothing much to do. Rajatava Dutta as a private detective and Kharaj Mukherjee as an agent in the porn racket disguised as an astrologer are apt but can't save this sinking ship. Also, why Ena Saha, as Rajatava's assistant, would keep licking on a lollipop while going on an assignment to solve a case, is simply beyond our understanding. Suchandra, who essays Shaheb's girlfriend, should take a series of acting workshops and majorly work on her diction and expressions if she wants to be in this profession. The only saving grace of this film is its music by Dev Sen.
So, if you want to have a laugh then go and watch... Not A Film, er, Not A Dirty Film!
